From a European perspective, the Dutch are among the leaders in the use of mobile internet.

More than half of consumers, 56 percent, have mobile internet on their phone and use it on the road. That is considerably more than the European average of 35 percent.

In only three of the 27 countries, the consumer is still 'connected' than the Dutch:

"The low share (31 percent) of mobile internet in Germany is striking in neighboring countries", according to Statistics Netherlands, which published its 2012 figures.

It is not surprising that people prefer to use mobile internet with the telephone, although twenty percent also say that with their tablet.

"Especially many young people use the internet. Over seven in ten 12 to 25-year-olds use their smartphone for this, most of them almost daily. Nearly half of them use (also) a laptop, and a quarter use a tablet to go online. "
