Financial service provider AEGON will sell insurance via Facebook without the intervention of any agency. With its new Kroodle brand, it also sidelined the millions of Dutch people who are not members of the profile site.

If you are not a member of Facebook, you can not register for Kroodle. The new insurer of AEGON is simple and cheap, but is not for everyone. According to measurements from Socialbakers.com 7.5 million Dutch people are on Facebook. That means that at least as many people are not on it.

Half of the Netherlands can by definition not become a customer of Kroodle. The newcomer to the insurance market does not offer interested parties the opportunity to become customers through other channels such as Twitter or Google+.

According to De Telegraaf, Kroodle will be selling policies via Facebook from June 2013. Until then, interested parties should contact the AEGON site directly.

Kroodle was launched this morning.
