Twitter earns well on its sponsored tweets, or messages that are paid by advertisers. That told CEO Dick Costolo at a congress of weekly The Economist.

Twitter only started selling mobile advertising in February, but it does better than Facebook. That social network had to admit earlier this year that hardly any mobile turnover is still running.

Twitter itself takes into account 1 billion dollar advertising revenue in 2014, much more than what analysts like EMarketer have calculated. They keep it at 540 million. Last year, Twitter converted ads to $ 139 million. The total turnover is already $ 1 billion.

At the conference, Costolo said that 60% of the approximately 140 million Twitter users now approach the site in a mobile fashion, 55 percent more than six months ago. And mobile users are also more active.

Twitter launched a new logo yesterday. On it you can see a bird, where previously letters were used. Twitter has asked developers to use the new logo as much as possible.
