Breda, 23 May 2016 - Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG) Storage Peripherals Division adds a model with 8 TB to the ultra-high-performance premium 3.5 "HDDs of the X300 series. The 8 TB X300 will amply meet the desired performance and storage capacity of graphic designers, gamers and other heavy users looking for larger, faster and more reliable internal storage.
The latest member of the X300 family, which features a 6 Gbit / s SATA interface and enhanced real-time performance and data protection functions, is ideal for desktop workstations, all-in-one PCs, game PCs and multimedia computers. Whether it concerns backing up and recovering large files, saving a game in between, heavy photo and video editing or running several applications simultaneously: the drive ensures that all data is stored quickly and securely and again can be opened quickly.
The 8 TB X300 runs at a high rotational speed of 7200 rpm, has a buffer with a capacity of 128 MB and has a dual-stage actuator that increases the positional accuracy and prevents head-track effects caused by vibrations. The drive offers Advanced Format storage (AF) and supports Native Command Queuing (NVQ).
For high density, high speed and stability, the new disk from Toshiba uses the recording technologies Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) and Tunnel Magneto-Resistive (TMR). The data is protected by an internal sensor that increases resistance to shocks and vibrations and technology that stabilizes the drawer when the disc is being transported.
The 8 TB X300 is available from June 2016 for a suggested retail price of € 359. The standard warranty is two years.
(1) One gigabyte (1GB) means 109 = 1, 000, 000, 000 bytes and one terabyte (1TB) means 1012 = 1, 000, 000, 000, 000 using powers of 10. However, a computer operating system reports the storage capacity using powers of 2, leading to the following definition of 1GB = 230 = 1.073.741.824 bytes and 1TB = 240 = 1.099.511.627.776 bytes, resulting in a lower storage capacity. The available storage capacity (including examples of different media files) varies depending on file size, size, settings, software and operating system and other factors.
