Amsterdam, 24 August 2016 - Arista Networks expands Arista EOS (Extensible Operating System) and CloudVision with new generation telemetry and analysis functions. These increase the insight of customers in all network loads, workflows, and work streams, so that daily tasks can be carried out faster and operational costs fall. The new telemetry functionality will be added to CloudVision in the fourth quarter of this year.

Status-based streaming approach of telemetry

Arista EOS is a status-based software architecture based on NetDB ™ (Network Database). In it, Arista EOS stores the real-time statuses of all equipment and then aggregates these into a network-wide overview. By registering all status changes in the network, Arista's customers can access both real-time and historical network views from one location. With a level of detail that was not possible before. The analysis functions of Arista's CloudVision platform also enable telemetric visualizations of all network states.

Status-based streaming approach of telemetry offers the following possibilities and benefits:

Real-time event-driven streaming of every change, providing a more detailed insight into the network, compared to other 'polling' methods.

Full insight into the statuses of all network equipment, including configuration data, counters, errors, statistics, tables, environmental values, buffer use, flow data, etc.

CloudVision Analytics Engine for performing trend analyzes, event correlations and generating automatic alerts. The necessary basis for both real-time monitoring and historical forensic event investigations.

New telemetry apps for the CloudVision portal, including the Workstream Analytics Viewer, which make all network statuses both simpler and faster.

An open framework, based on standard RESTful APIs and the OpenConfig-based infrastructure, for easy integration with complementary solutions from partners and customer-specific infrastructures.

Expansion of existing EOS Telemetry Tracer functionality to other equipment, topology, virtual machines, containers and application components.

Deep network insight

"All automated network operations in present-day cloud networks require a far-reaching programmable software infrastructure and in-depth understanding of the overall network, " said Ken Duda, CTO and Arista Networks senior vice president of software engineering. "Legacy solutions are lacking in this. Arista's status-streaming approach results in an open framework with unprecedented levels of completeness and detail of all network status information. Our CloudVision platform analyzes and visualizes all network statuses, giving customers a clearer real-time and historical insight into their total network. "

Expansion partner ecosystem

All Arista partners can also use the benefits of the new telemetry solution. Via the real-time streaming of statuses they get access to more detailed information than with other methods and thus deeper integration possibilities. These statuses can be retrieved directly from the equipment via an API, as well as from the central CloudVision database. Hewlett Packard Enterprise, SAP, Veriflow and VMWare have already given their support for this.
