Vodafone accelerates the roll-out of its 4G network. That must be available in September for the whole of the Netherlands. By making the best possible use of the mild winter and smarter deployment of frequencies and technology, there is a nationwide network faster than planned, let the company know.

Vodafone is more than six months ahead of the original schedule. At the moment, the Vodafone 4G network covers 82 percent of the Netherlands.

Vodafone uses a combination of low (800Mhz) and high (1800Mhz) frequencies. Low frequencies reach further, which means fewer transmitter masts are needed. With high frequencies capacity is realized at busy locations. In addition, Vodafone is the only provider that provides its mast park with so-called AIR antennas and Remote Radio Head technology. This yields 30 percent more coverage per mast than regular antennas used by other providers.

In September, 4G is expected to be available anywhere in the Netherlands. In the following months, the coverage and capacity will be intensified to optimize the 4G experience in-house.
