Jansen, an entrepreneur since he was 19, came up with the idea of ​​healthy, ready-to-eat meals during his time at CoCuisine. A company that focuses on healthy meals in healthcare. Soon he discovered that many more concepts are possible from 'producing from own kitchen'. A delivery service that exclusively prepares 100% organic non-feed ready meals was not yet available. A concept that fits well in this fast-paced world where nobody has enough time and the home delivery market accounts for around 1.8 billion euros. With KOOC, Jansen wants to positively influence the eating behavior of the Dutch and offer meals that fit within the current developments. in the field of nutrition. In this way he hopes to change the perception of ready-to-eat food.

Start-up phase

Supplying meals directly to the consumer was necessary for Jansen. It still did some thinking to lay the line from kitchen to consumer. PostNL turned out to be the solution, so that national back-up could be guaranteed immediately. 'That way healthy eating is possible for everyone'. Through the network Jansen then came into contact with food technologist Ralph Moorman, who joined KOOC as ambassador. Together with Moorman Jansen has studied ways to guarantee the longest daily shelf life. "Without the use of any addition, this is still quite difficult, but with the use of the right techniques, we succeeded, " says Jansen. Meals are freshly prepared and are available for five days after delivery and are ideal for freezing.

Launch

Right from the start, Jansen noticed a strong need for healthy and add-on meals. Demand came from different angles: from busy mothers, businessmen and athletes, to people with food intolerances. "For many people, KOOC is a godsend in today's society where convenience and time constraints are becoming increasingly prevalent." In addition to the online distribution channel, Jansen also wanted to expand to physical sales outlets. He found a match in organic wholesaler UDEA and after a few weeks KOOC was located at dozens of sustainable stores, including the Ekoplaza retail chain. "We have already sold about 30, 000 meals through the combination of online and offline sales through various distribution channels, " says Jansen. The highest priority for the entrepreneur now lies in expanding the range. In particular, vegetarian and vegan meals will be added to the assortment. In the end, Cor Jansen and Ralph Moorman want KOOC to become the largest in the field of ready-to-eat organic meals in the Netherlands, but Jansen also does not exclude foreign countries. Now that Post NL has recently also delivered to our Zuiderburen, the entrepreneur has set his sights on the Belgian market.
