The Amsterdam Climate and Energy Fund, together with Qwic, Dutch Bicycle Rental and Skopei, is investing 2.1 million euros in bicycle part-startup Urbee.

Urbee wants to reduce CO2 emissions in the city by replacing car traffic by using the electric bicycle.

Users search the bicycle via the app, reserve it, and open the bike with the received reservation code.

The platform guarantees a 'perfect maintenance state' and a full battery before use. If the battery status is too low, a bicycle is removed from the reservation system. In case of a defect this can be reported in the app and a new bike will be assigned.

The Urbee bicycle, the smart lock and the platform were jointly developed by Qwic, Dutch manufacturer of innovative electric bicycles, Dutch Bicycle Rental (bicycle rental) and Skopei, developer of hardware and software solutions for the mobility market.
