AMSTERDAM, 20151117 - Today Bijplakken.nl and Decemberzegel.nl went online. These are useful calculators for quickly calculating mailbox postage, where you can include all stamps that PostNL has issued since the introduction of the euro.

Overcomplete
The sites offer a good alternative to the rate overviews that PostNL uses itself. These overviews are over-completed for the average mail driver. For domestic mail, PostNL shows a matrix with 25 different domestic rates, not to mention the foreign tariffs (*).

Most people, however, just want to know what they have to stick to their domestic and international letterbox mail without getting an expensive penalty card at home. For more complex shipments they have to go to the post office anyway, where they get text and explanations.

Incomplete
On the other hand, the PostNL rates overview is incomplete. It does not show what people can do with their old December stamps and euro stamps. Bijplakken.nl and Decemberzegel.nl do so emphatically, so that these seals do not have to be unnecessarily dusted in the kitchen drawer.

PostNL receives many questions (and complaints) about its franking rates through its social media channels. The mission of Bijplakken.nl and Decemberzegel.nl is to ensure that no Dutch citizen pays too much to postage and punishment port on his mailbox post.

Bijplakken.nl and Decemberzegel.nl are responsive websites, so you can also use them on smartphones and tablets. The rate increases as of 1 January 2016 and the expiration of the new December stamp rate as of 6 January 2016 have already been processed in the sites. Bijplakken.nl and Decemberzegel.nl are the initiative of Vlijt & IJver BV.

(*) When searching for foreign exchange rates for letterbox mail, you must first look up the country of destination on PostNL.nl, while in terms of rates it does not matter whether you send your letter to Belgium or to Burundi.
