Peter Somers, former board member of bpost, sets up the e-logistics company Sprintpack in Belgium and China.

The company wants to offer various e-commerce solutions such as the delivery of packages, storage and the setting up of web shops.

Somers was a member of the executive committee of bpost until last year and in that capacity was responsible for the business unit Parcels & International, a rapidly growing division with more than 475 million euro turnover at the time.

The core team consists of Marnix Bakker (commercial activities), Jan Kooyman (operational activities) and Steven Schutter (IT solutions). All have experience with logistics. The Chinese branch is headed by Maggie Li, ex CEO of bpost China.

Somers also intends to become a shareholder and director of the SD Group Logistics, a Belgian logistics player consisting of Soditra Logistic, Sobeltax Distribution, Sotradis, Europe Belgium, DBP and Sodisoft. The SD Group Logistics will in turn become a shareholder of SprintPack.

After China, the US is on the agenda in 2016.
